Usually a “Christmas” film is about Christmas. The theme will be a Christmas theme. The plot will deal with the holiday, and the myths of the season will be front and center. Santa might even make an appearance. But there are also films that take place at Christmas, or cover a longer period that includes Christmas, but have no Christmas theme or plot or myths. The season isn’t essential to the story. You could remove Christmas from the film (perhaps replacing it with some other random celebration) and it would still work. Those are the films you’ll find here. (Films ABOUT Christmas are listed here.)
